ATEX 94/9/EC

The ATEX Directive 94/9/EC is a directive adopted by the European Union (EU) to facilitate free trade in the EU by aligning the technical and legal requirements in the Member Sates for products intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

The Directive covers equipment and protective systems, which may be intended for used in areas endangered by potentially explosive atmosphere created by the presence of flammable gases, vapors, mists or dusts.The scope of the directive includes safety devices, controlling devices and regulating devices. Also subject to ATEX Directive requirements is the equipment intended for use outside potentially explosive atmospheres and measures required for or contributing to the safe functioning of equipment and protective systems.
