Bluetooth Qualification Program
How to qualify and list a Bluetooth product
Several entities are involved in the establishment and execution of the Bluetooth Qualification Program:
Bluetooth Qualification Review Board (BQRB) – has overall responsibility for managing, reviewing and improving the qualification program.
Bluetooth Qualification Administrator (BQA) – ensures the proper functioning of the program.
Bluetooth Qualification Test Facility (BQTF) – a test facility recognized by the Bluetooth SIG to Bluetooth manufacturer for testing products in compliance with Bluetooth standards.
Bluetooth Qualification Expert (BQE) – an individual person recognized by the Bluetooth SIG to Bluetooth manufacturer for checking declarations, documents and test reports against requirements and listing products on the official database of Bluetooth-qualified products.
In order to have a product listed on the Bluetooth website, manufacturers must first identify all incorporated functional capabilities on the PICS (Protocol / Profile Implementation Conformance Statement) form. Each feature specified on the PICS must pass the relevant testing and the results documented on the formal test reports issued. The latest version of Test Case Reference List (TCRL) is published on the Bluetooth website. TCRL had specifies which test cases (Category B, C) can be performed by Bluetooth manufacturers and which test cases (Category A) are required to be carried out at a recognized Bluetooth Qualification Test Facility (BQTF).
For Bluetooth Test Specification, most of RF (Radio), BB (Base Band) and LM (Link Manager) test cases have been announced in Category A; that is, such testing must be performed by a BQTF to have the related test results accepted by Bluetooth SIG as official documents.
