New laboratory in Taichung
for testing gasoline-powered tools and machines
Our Taichung branch has opened a new laboratory for testing gasoline-powered tools and machines in Taichung Industrial Park. The newly designed testing apparatus, which fulfills the requirements of European, American, and other international standards, are used especially for testing chainsaws, lawnmowers, trimmers, brush cutters, and hedge trimmers.
One of the laboratory's key units is the kickback testing machine. Under EN ISO 11681-1, prEN 60745-2-13, and ANSI B175.1, chainsaws have to be tested to determine the kickback potential. The kickback testing machine, designed according to the ISO 9518 standard, uses a newly developed electronic-measurement method to determine released kinetic energy and to calculate the computed kickback angle or "CKA". This testing unit is more efficient, because data acquisition and processing is fully automated and supported by state-of-the-art software. All test sequences can be operated from a separate control room by using a PC and pull-down menus.

Other important new testing units are stopping-time test stands for chainsaws, hedge trimmers, and lawnmowers, along with thrown-object test stands and impact test facilities for lawnmowers, brush cutters, and trimmers.
