About S-Mark for Japan
TÜV Rheinland is pleased to offer the well-known Japan S-Mark, issued in accordance with the Steering Council of Safety Certification for Electrical and Electronic Appliances and Parts of Japan (SCEA). TÜV Rheinland is able to issue the Safety Certification Scheme (S-Mark), with its well-known logo, in addition to the existing TÜV Rheinland proprietary S-Mark. Both S-Marks are in compliance with IEC standards and also harmonized with Japan’s deviations, and are voluntary safety marks.
Both Japan S-Marks provide an effective and user-friendly way to introduce an electrical or electronic product into the Japanese market.
The Japan S-Mark satisfies manufacturer and importer demands for evidence of safety and conformity with Japan’s DENAN law, while offering higher market acceptance among distributors and retailers. Both S-Mark schemes offered by TÜV Rheinland for the Japanese market are voluntary, with the same market effect, and can be applied to a wide range of electrical consumer products (e.g., household, audio, video, and IT equipment).
